At the Coffee Connexion
Roastery, we are dedicated to delivering a perfect cup of
coffee. From the first decision of choosing the
finest bean, you can be assured that we are passionate about
enabling you to brew your own perfect cup of coffee. Our goal
is to provide you the finest roasted coffee bean and deliver
it to you at its peak freshness. We choose our green beans
from Africa, South America, Central America and Indonesia. As
we take pride in our choice of green beans, we take more pride
in our consistent roasting method.
We proudly roast our coffee in
a 50 lb Fluid Bed Roaster. Fluid Bed Roasting,
sometimes called air bed roasting, produces a clean smooth
taste. Fluid bed roasters are designed to attain fresh,
consistent flavors by roasting to a specific bean temperature
rather than to a specific color as done in the traditional
roasters. This clean taste leaves no coating in one’s mouth,
as is often the case with coffee produced by the drum roasting
method. This coating, or aftertaste, is usually due to the
drum roaster’s very high temperature and re-circulation of hot
gases: the gas of smoke deposited on and absorbed by the beans
can render a rather biting taste.
Fluid bed roasters force a
high velocity stream of hot air through a bed of
beans. The walls of the fluid bed roasters are not
heated so the beans cannot scorch; the smoke exits form the
top when fresh are enters through the bottom. This is the main
advantage over drum roasters: the fluid bed roasters roast at
a lower temperature, and the non-heated chamber wall will not
scorch or burn the beans. In traditional roasting methods,
coffee beans can stick to the hot metal that they are being
roasted within. These beans will then go through two roasts,
not just one. Unfortunately, these beans will end up in
someone’s coffee creating a burnt taste in one’s mouth. This
is not the case when roasting in an Airbed Roaster. ~ You can
taste the difference! |
